Free English Classes by British Council at BORDERS
There has been a lot of talk in recent years about the fact that many Malaysians lack sufficient English skills to succeed in the workplace. Typical problems that many Malaysians may experience include not having the confidence to express their opinions or take part in discussions and not being able to compose clear, easy-to-understand emails at work. In some cases, a lack of proficiency in English means that young people are missing out on new employment opportunities or promotions despite otherwise having high level qualifications. The British Council is globally committed to improving English levels to help people achieve their work and study goals, and Borders are concerned about the declining levels of English in Malaysia. To try to address this, the two organisations have decided to work together to both raise awareness and offer people the opportunity to develop their English. In this collaboration, the British Council will be offering a series of mini-lessons at Borders in The Curve that will give people the opportunity to experience for free the kind of English-learning experience that is offered to those who study with us. The lessons have been carefully designed to be fun, relevant and practical to young professionals who need to use English at work, and serve as a taster for the kind of courses offered in British Council teaching centres.
