PLUS highway users on the North-South Expressway (NSE), North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE) and the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) paying toll electronically for their long distance travel (more than 100 kilometres) will be able to enjoy a 20 percent toll rebate in conjunction with Christmas holidays.PLUS Malaysia Berhad Managing Director, Dato' Noorizah Hj Abd Hamid said, "Highway Class 1 users (light vehicles with 2 axles and 3 or 4 wheels except taxi) travelling more than 100 kilometres and paying toll electronically via PLUSMiles cards, Touch 'n Go cards or SmartTAGs will be able receive a 20 percent toll rebate for electronic toll transactions on 25 December (Sunday) in conjunction with Christmas holidays."
20% Toll Rebate in the Form of Toll Reload
According to Noorizah, the public paying toll electronically will still be required to pay the normal rate on 25 December. However, the 20 percent toll rebate (in a form of toll reload) can be redeemed when they reload their electronic cards at all PLUS customer service centres between 15 January 2017 and 14 April 2017.The toll rebate is aimed celebrating Christmas and is part of an effort to encourage the public to switch to electronic toll payment system which is easier and faster.
"The toll rebate can be enjoyed the whole day and is not restricted to a particular time frame," Noorizah explained.
The toll rebate however does not apply at these following toll plazas - Tanjung Kupang, Bukit Kayu Hitam, Bangunan Sultan Iskandar and Penang Bridge.
Based on its studies on travelling patterns during previous festive seasons, PLUS expects the traffic on the NSE to increase by 14 percent to 1.6 million vehicles every day between 23 December 2016 and 3 January 2017 as compared to 1.4 million on normal days.
